What the extra coverage is for
A concealable vest covers the torso. This one also covers the neck, the top of the shoulders and the groin, because those are the areas a unit exposes when it stands at a checkpoint, holds a perimeter or moves through a crowd with its arms up.
The guards attach to the same carrier as the torso panel, so the vest goes on in one movement. The full set weighs 5.5 kg across 0.56 square metres of protection area.
